Light on a Hill

Posted on

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Matthew 5:14

Christians are a light on hill, which implies we reflect Christ to everyone, and if the opportunity exists we tell people about salvation through Christ. To be light on a hill we pray for people and we need Christ to always be with us.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. (John 16:13) Christ guides us through the Holy Spirit and through the Word of God. We are blessed to be guided by Christ and to bring people to Christ, because we are created in the image of God. There is nothing more fulfilling than when help someone that accepts Christ and becomes a member of the church.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (Matthew 5:15) We are always a light for Christ, and we never hide our light. We show kindness patience, and a caring heart. If Christians don’t tell lost souls about Christ, then who else is going to tell them?

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16) Christians are humble and we don’t seek to please ourselves or people by what the Lord calls us to do, but all the glory goes to God, because without Christ we can do nothing. We serve Christ with a thankful heart. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) We always need Christ with us.
We have to be careful because Satan will make us self-centered, because he wants us to receive all the glory, which is pride. We remain humble and all the glory goes to God, and none to self. And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) It is far more fulfilling to satisfy God, than to satisfy man.

Today reflect Christ in everything we do, and give thanks to Christ. Reflect kindness, patience, and show respect to everyone.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to be a Light on hill, to point people to Christ, and to be guided by Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
