Life is in Our Soul

Posted on

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

James 2:26

We are created in the image of God, and we are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus. When we live the way God created us, we will live the most fulfilling, rewarding life possible. God loves us more than we can imagine, and the most fulfilling life only comes from God. We will never have life to the full from things of the world.

When Adam and Eve sinned, the world began to decay and our bodies started to decay, because our bodies are made from the world. You were made out of the ground. You will return to it when you die. You are dust, and you will return to dust. (Genesis 4:19) Our bodies will decay and die, but the spiritual us lives forever; and our spirit is our thoughts, personality, and will. Do we choose to live for our eternal spirit, or do we choose to live for our decaying flesh?

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63) Only Christ can bring lasting contentment to our soul through the Holy Spirit. The world can only bring temporary contentment because all things from the world are decaying, and will also decay in our minds. Only God can bring lasting contentment to our soul and the flesh counts for nothing. We can gain the whole world, but not knowing Christ we are poor.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. (John 14:27) All the blessings from Heaven that feed our soul are divine and only come from God, and the closer we are to Christ, the more powerful these blessings become. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (Philippians 4:11) The apostle Paul experienced the power of the blessings that Christ fed into his soul, such that he was content in all circumstances. And Paul lived a very difficult life, which he used to bring himself closer to Christ. If God feeds Paul’s soul with powerful blessings, then God will do the same for us.

If we desire the divine blessings from God that feed our soul, then our mind must be governed by the Spirit. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) Our soul is either in the Kingdom or in the world, based on our thoughts.

Satan’s desire is for us to live to satisfy our fleshly desires, because he knows only God can bring continuous contentment to our soul. Satan’s ways are always the opposite of God’s ways. Satan’s plan backfires, because when our soul is satisfied with blessings from God, we no longer have to search the world for contentment. We are now free to enjoy the world as God intended, because we see God everywhere. We now enjoy things of the world that in the past we hardly noticed. Although God has blessed us with life to the full, this world is not our home, and we live for our eternal soul because Heaven is our home.

Today realize that your life is in the spirit, and live to bring your spirit closer to Christ. The closer we are to Christ, the more fulfilling our life, and the closer our soul is to eternal life.

Prayer: Help me to remember that my life is in the spirit, and help me to live for the spirit and not for the flesh. In Jesus name, Amen
