Let the Word Speak to You

Posted on

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

The Word is alive, and if we seek to know how the scripture affects our life, it will be alive to us. If we read the Word for information only, then the Word will not be alive to us. Take each verse or group of verses, and think deeply on it. Pray for understanding and how these verse(s) will impact our life. The Word is alive when it is alive in our life.

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. (Matthew 7:24) The Word must live in our heart before we ae motivated to obey and act on it. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) When the Word speaks to us, we obey what it says. If we just read the Word for knowledge, it will never go to our hearts. If we take every scripture and search our souls for how it can change us, and we obey, our hearts will change making us more like Jesus. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. (Matthew 7:25) Knowing the Word and obeying the Word, places our security upon the rock.

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. (Matthew 7:26) If we read the Word just for information and refuse to obey, our security is upon the sand. If we refuse to obey what the Word says, or we obey some scriptures and not obey other scriptures, do we have the peace, comfort and security from Christ that places on the rock?  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. (Matthew 24:27) Without our security from obeying the Word, we will crash.

But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it. (Deuteronomy 30:14) The Word is the power of our ministry, we backup everything we say with scripture. We pray for understanding and for scriptures to lead our ministry. To be effective in ministry we need to memorize scriptures, especially when we answer questions.

Today when you read the Word, let it speak to you, and obey what it says to you. Scripture can be meaningless if it never reaches our hearts. Memorize scripture so you can answer questions with scriptures to back your words

Prayer:  Lord help me hear you speak to me through scripture and to always obey your Word.  Guide me in the Spirit to obey with no excuses from Satan. In Jesus name, Amen
