Led By the Spirit
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.Romans 8:14
When we are led by the Spirit we are doing the Lord’s will. But how do we know if we are doing the Lord’s will or deviating from his will by mixing in our will? The verse above says we are to be led by the Spirit and we will discuss the process how to be led by the Spirit.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) If our minds are set on things above we will be in tune to be led by the Spirit. We make it habit to commune with the Lord about everything we do in the day, such as driving to work, through our workday, drive home, and evening with family. We are led by the Spirit to reflect Christ and the Spirit will guide us and point out people that need an encouraging word.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) We are led by the Spirit when we keep in step with the Spirit. We go through our day communing with Lord and seeking his guidance just as if Jesus was physically walking with us. Imagine the conversation you would have with Jesus if he went through the day with you. Have the same conversation with him through the Spirit and be sensitive to the Spirit and your Godly conscience.
Being led by the Spirit is process that takes time as we redirect our thoughts from the world to the Spirit. We interface to the world through the Spirit, which implies everything we receive from the world we process through the Spirit, and everything we think, say, and do, we first process through the Spirit. If we practice this it can soon become normal, especially if we pray for the Lord’s help.
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ (John 3:607) We receive birth to the spiritual world when we receive the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. And like anything at birth it requires growth, and it’s the same with being led by the Spirit. It starts by learning the language of the Spirit which is the Word of God. The more we know the Word the more we will be in tune with the Spirit, because everything that comes from the Spirit reflects the truth from the Word the God.
Today be sensitive to the Spirit and commune with the Lord seeking his guidance and help in everything you do. When we seek the Spirit’s guidance the Lord will help us to be led by the Spirit. Pray for the Lord’s help in being led by the Spirit and spend time reading the Word, especially about the Spirit.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be led by the Spirit so I can follow your good, pleasing, and perfect will. I pray that the words I speak come from the Spirit, because they are powerful when they come from Spirit. Thank you for the Spirit and guide me to be one with the Spirit and one with you. In Jesus name, Amen
