Knowing God’s Love

Posted on

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

We understand God’s love from his word, but do we know God’s love in our hearts? We live out of our hearts and if our hearts know God’s love we will reflect his love to the world. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23) We guard our hearts by filling our hearts with God’s love.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)  God is love and the more of his love that fills our hearts the more we know God.  We fill our hearts with his love by reflecting it to the world following the Spirit, and this draws us closer to the Lord. As we minister to others our life resembles the life of Jesus and we experience the same thoughts and emotions he did which draws us closer to him for his love, guidance, strength, and comfort.  Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) If we live this verse we will know God’s love.

It’s God’s love in our hearts that changes us deeply and drives us to love the Lord and gives us the desire to serve him.  It is his love in us that enables us to love others as Jesus loved others, and motivates us to tell the world about salvation in Christ. If you love me, you will obey my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever. (John 14:15:15-16)  We obey the Lord and he is always with us through the Spirit guiding us to reflect his love and his Word to others.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The Lord loves us so much that he is willing to always be with us and guide us with his love and wisdom through life as we serve him and he takes care of all our needs.  He loves us so much he protects our eternal soul of all those in his family, and guides us through life into our eternal home with him and the Father.

Today know that the Lord loves you more than anyone can imagine. Reflect his love and compassion to others today and know it will draw you closer to the Lord. The more love you reflect to the world the more God’s love will pour into your heart, forever pulling you closer to the Lord.

Prayer:  Lord, fill my heart with your love and guide me in the Spirit to reflect your love to others. Forever mold to be like Jesus and to live for you making my will always seeking your divine will.  In Jesus name, Amen
