Know God

Posted on

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9

The most fulfilling and secure life comes from knowing God. If we meditate on God and His Word, God will reveal to us who he really is and He will reveal to us who we really are. God, through Christ, created the heavens and the earth.  He created all life and he offers eternal life to us through Christ.

He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27) The more love we have in our hearts, the more we will know the Father and the Son.   Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8) We know about God from studying the Word and we come to know God as we serve him bringing his love to others.

We see God as our perfect master, and we know His ways and understanding are infinitely above our ways and understanding. This attitude of the heart will give us faith that pleases God. We may think becoming servants of God causes us to lose our freedom, but this is a lie from Satan that many lost souls believe.  When we surrender our life to the Father and the Son, we are free, and Christ lives in us guiding us with His divine power. The more we surrender to the Lord’s will, the more fulfilling and blessed is our life. This is the life we were created to live.

Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. (Psalm 96:9) When we know God, we cannot stop worshipping him. During our prayers, we give thanks that we have the blessing of talking to God, and it’s only through our acceptance of Christ that this possible.  It is a great privilege to pray to the Creator of all things. He sacrificed His own Son so we can have a relationship with the Father and the Son.

When we truly know the Lord, we surrender to Him as the Master and His perfect will; we cannot help to have a thankful, humble heart because we truly see God and we truly see ourselves. We are nothing without Christ, and we are the Lord’s family only because the perfect love the Father and Son have for us.

I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’  My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:1-6) This is Job’s answer when God explained who He is in Job 38-41, and this is our answer when we truly know God.

Today, seek to know God by serving Him and knowledge of His Word. The more we know the Father and the Son and live to serve them, the more fulfilling is our life.

Prayer: Lord, guide my heart to surrender to your perfect will and to live as your servant.  Guide me in the Spirit to fulfill your will.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
