Know Your Divine Purpose

Posted on

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 19:20

The scripture above defines the divine purpose of every Christian. We go and make disciples, pointing people to Christ wherever we go and whatever we are doing we reflect Christ. This gives our lives a never ending divine meaning and purpose that will fill us with love, peace, and joy from our Lord and Savior.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24). This describes the life of a Christian who lives his or her life for the Lord, a life that has divine meaning. We are to always be consciously aware of reflecting Christ-like behavior to everyone, and even to ourselves when we are alone.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20). If we can truly see ourselves as ambassadors for Christ, then we can be closer to the Lord than we are to the world and live for our divine purpose. We should pray everyday for what the Spirit puts on our hearts and we should live each day to reflect Christ to everyone we encounter. When we truly live for our divine purpose as an ambassador for Christ, our lives become divinely meaningful and fulfilling. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). We are created to live as Christ’s ambassadors; this pleases the Lord, and he pours his love and contentment into our souls.

As Satan fills the world with his lies, causing the world to become more evil, we need courage to fill the world with God’s truth. We live according to our divine purpose by bringing the good news of Christ to lost souls, and we are victorious every time we point a soul toward the Kingdom. We don’t change people; we can only reflect God’s love, point people to Christ, and pray that God changes them. Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). We need to pray continuously if we are to continuously bring lost souls to Christ.

Today live the divine purpose that the Lord has given you, and be a light wherever you go. Realize that reflecting Christ to the world is the most important thing that we can do, especially to our family and to our Church family. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11). It is critical that we encourage one another and build each other up so that we have the courage and motivation to go into the world for Christ.

Let’s Pray: Lord, guide me to live the divine purpose you’ve given to me and help me to never forget my purpose while here on earth. Give me the courage to be your ambassador and to bring the good news of Christ to everyone who will listen. Guide me to people who have open hearts to hear the good news. In Jesus name, Amen
