Keep Pressing On
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14
The Lord wants to keep us pressing toward the Light no matter what happens in life. When we keep pressing on, we are moving closer to the Lord and we are living in the Kingdom that is within us. How can we keep moving forward if our thoughts and habits keep moving backwards?
Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62) The Christian life is continual growth to become more like Christ, and we cannot move backwards and expect continual growth. And if are not going forward and not going backwards, then are we lukewarm Christians?
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6) We must be motivated to keep pressing forward if we desire for the Lord to complete his work in us. We follow the Spirit as he guides us in completing the Lord’s work in us up to our last breath, then we enter Heaven and his work is complete.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) We experience life to the full when keep pressing on to be closer to the Lord. Motivation to be closer to the Lord is key to a full rewarding Christian life, and we do this by serving the Lord. We let our light shine wherever we go, and pray for the Lord to open doors to bring Christ to others.
We keep pressing forward to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus. Pressing forward moves us down the narrow road toward the light of God and into Heavenly home.
Today pray for guidance from the Spirit and keep pressing on to reflect Christ to the world. Live the most fulfilling life by seeking to be closer to the Lord.
Praying: Lord guide me in the Spirit so I will keep pressing forward. In Jesus name, Amen
