Jesus Died to Change Us

Posted on

I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.

Jeremiah 24:7

God changes our heart so we know Him and turn to Him with our whole heart.  People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)  Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)  God listens to our hearts and everything we do comes from our heart. For God is to change us our hearts have to change, because we live out of our spiritual hearts.

The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5) The Lord listens to our thoughts from our spiritual hearts and our thoughts reveal everything about us.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Romans 12:2)  The Lord changes our hearts he and He renews our mind, which means we change our thinking. Our mind rewires, replacing worldly thoughts with Godly thoughts.  Over time the neural wiring in our brains change from worldly thinking to Godly thinking. But renewing the mind has little effect on changing our hearts.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31) This is the most important command because living this command changes our hearts.  We have the Holy Spirit so Christ can change us, giving us the mind and heart of Jesus.  Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) If we truly seek to follow the Spirit, Christ will guide our life modeled after Jesus. We will minister to the world and He will increase His love in our hearts.

When the Lord’s love increases in our hearts, we are motivated to serve the Lord and we depend on the Lord. We seek to be closer to the Lord through serving, praying and meditating, studying the Word, and Christian fellowship.  All work together to brings us closer to the Lord and helps us to serve Him.  Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8) Our hearts are changed when our hearts are filled with God’s love and we reflect God’s love to the world.

Today serve the Lord as he changes your heart. Reflect the Lord’s love to others, his kindness and encouragement.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me in the Spirit to fill my heart with your love. Today I will reflect your love to others. In Jesus name, Amen
