Image of His Son
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Romans 8:29
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and baptized; we are predestined to be molded by God to have the mind, heart, and emotions of Christ. If we obey the Word and guided by Christ, we will start to have the mind and heart of Christ. When we have the mind and heart of Christ, we have overcome the world, and we know Heaven is our Home.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) The first step in becoming the image of His Son, is stop conforming to evil ways of the World, but start conforming to the ways of God as given in the Word. The Word is the voice of God, and every command is for our benefit.
As the mind is being wired to the ways of God, it will unwire from the evil ways of the world, and we start obeying the Word by ministering and encouraging others to the ways of God. At first this can be a choir, but as God begins to fill our hearts with his agape love, helping others, and telling them about Christ will becomes our desire.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31) This is the greatest command because a heart of love makes every command in the Word natural to us. How can we conform to the image of His Son without a heart of Love? It was a heart of love that motivated Jesus to tell people about salvation, and agape love in our hearts will give us the same motivation. Unless we develop a heart of love, how can we conform to the image of His Son? Jesus has so much for us that he was crucified for our sins, so we can be saved.
We obtain a heart of love by bringing others to Christ, teaching a Bible class, encouraging others, and telling others about eternal life. And over time God will fill our hearts with his divine love. As our hearts are getting filled with God’s love, we become a light for Christ in this world. To conform to the image of Jesus, we develop a heart that cares about others. God will change us to be more like Christ to our last breath; and there is no greater life than having the mind, heart, and emotions of Christ, because we are living the way God created us to live.
Today know God is changing you to conform to the image of his Son, so follow the Word by being patient, encouraging others, and caring about others.
Prayer” Father, change me to conform to the image of your Son, through the Word and through the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
