Image of His Son
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Romans 8:29
All who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus. God’s primary purpose is to mold us to the mind and heart of Jesus. When we have the mind and heart of Jesus, we will know Christ and have a close, loving relationship with Him. The Lord will continue to change us which means we spiritually grow through our earthly life to become more like Jesus.
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6) This verse is telling us that God is carrying on His good work in us until the “day of Christ Jesus” or until our last breath. We continue to become more Christ-like by increasing our knowledge of His Word and His love in our hearts. Our spiritual growth increases as we become closer to the Lord in a close, loving relationship. Becoming like Jesus and having a close relationship with the Lord – go together. We cannot be like Jesus without knowing Christ.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) The more of God’s love we have in our hearts, the more we know the Lord. Loving one another, which includes all people, causes the love to be complete in us.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. (1 John 4:16-17) To “live in love” means Christ lives in us through the Spirit, and we live to reflect Jesus to the world by bringing God’s Truth and love to the world This is how love is made complete among us. Our minds are filled with the Word, the language of God, and our hearts are filled with the God’s love. People see Jesus in us, a person with a heart of love and compassion that genuinely cares about serving God and ministering to others.
Today, seek to live your life like Jesus. Depend on Christ as you live each day being a Light to the World by bringing God’s Truth to overcome Satan’s lies. Remember the Lord’s Light always takes away Satan’s darkness.
Prayer: Lord, guide me today so people will see the heart of Jesus in me. Keep Satan away and help me to walk in victory doing your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen
