I Gave My Life for Thee

Posted on

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Romans 12:1

These words are from a song about what Jesus gave. He lived as one of his own creation as a servant, and gave his life for our sins. He took our punishment, filling us with his Spirit, forgiving our sins, and interceding for us to Father as perfect. We can never be worthy of what Jesus did for us, except to have a thankful surrendered heart to serve Christ. This is what the Father expects from us since he placed his wrath on his Son instead of us?

“I left, I left it all for thee,” Christ left Heaven and came to earth and lived as one of us, live a humble life with Mary and Joseph as a human and not as God. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Philippians 2:6-7)

“I’ve borne, I’ve borne it all for thee.” Jesus took the punishment in our place, being the perfect sacrifice for our sins. This was the Fathers plan and his Son complied all because of the infinite love between the Father and the Son and the infinite love the Father and the Son have for us. How can we not trust a God who loves us more than we can ever imagine? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?(Romans 8:32) This is promise for God that he will give us everything we need for this life, both physical and spiritual, if we accept Christ and trust his perfect love.

“I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee,” When we accept Christ he fills us with his Spirit and Heaven is our home. He enables us to overcome the world and to be free. The Spirit fills our heats with love, peace, and joy, and our faith and love takes away Satan’s fear. We are separated from our sins and have forgiveness. The blessings from the Lord are so numerous and powerful it hard to find the words to describe them.

“What hast thou brought to Me?” The most fulfilling part of our life is serving the Lord. What we bring to the Lord is to be like him and bring his love to the world. His Spirit lives in us and that molds us to be like him. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) Jesus died for us and so we live for Jesus.

Today live with a thankful heart for Jesus has given to you. In response to his perfect love and sacrifice, live for Jesus today. You will find that living as Jesus did is the most fulfilling life possible on the earth, living the life God created each of us to live for his Son.

Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with thankfulness for what your Son gave to save me, and let me live today for your glory. Guide me in the Spirit with heart to tell the world about Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen
