Home for the Soul

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

Psalm 62:1

Our soul is spiritual and it is our thoughts, personality, emotions, and will; it is eternal which means we are eternal. Only our flesh dies while our soul lives, and when Christ returns we get a new eternal body. If our soul is eternal and the Father and the Son are eternal, then the home for our soul is to be with God. When our soul is connected to the Lord, it is home. We experience life to the full because we are created to be with God, even while living in our earthly suit.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) God created us to be with him just as Adam and Eve were with God in the Garden until they sinned and separated themselves from God. The ultimate life for any human being is to know the Lord and to be close to him. The closer we are to the Lord, the more fulfilling is our life.

Our flesh lives in the world while our spiritual soul comes from God and is created to be with God. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:5) The Lord is close to us because he lives in us through the Holy Spirit. This is how close Christ wants to be to us. But do we live recognizing that the Spirit of Christ lives in us? The more we are aware of the Spirit in us, the more powerful the Spirit is in our life.

Our spiritual soul can have a close connection to Christ by walking in the Holy Spirit. If our thoughts are directed toward things above and we interface to the world through the Spirit, our soul will at home in the Spirit. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) Our minds can easily be trained to think on things above because that is how we were created to think.

We are connected to the Lord in our conscious thought, and we interface to the world as his ambassador. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. (2 Corinthians 5:20) If we see ourselves as ambassadors, living for Christ, we can be connected to the Lord in both our conscious and subconscious mind.

Today know that the home for your soul is with Christ. In this life, we are with Christ when our soul and Holy Spirit are connected because Christ lives in us. Direct your thoughts toward Christ and do everything as doing it for Christ. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23)

Prayer: Lord, help my soul to live at home connected to the Spirit. Guide my thoughts and help me to always see myself as an ambassador for you. Guide me in the Spirit to remember that everything I do, I do for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
