He First Loved Us

Posted on

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Jesus suffered death on the cross because of the infinite love the Father and the Son has for us, even while we were all sinners. The love the Father and Son have for us is the foundation of the Christian life, because we are predestined to conform to the image of his Son. Therefore, we are to have a heart of love for all people in the world just as God does.

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6: 12) We love everyone because we have God’s unconditional love in our hearts, but we hate the deception Satan has planted in the minds of many people who don’t know God. There is no room in a Christians mind for hate, because hate is foothold from Satan.

We should always remember the sacrifice Christ made for our eternal life, and live with a heart of God’s unconditional love. Our love for God gives us the power and the motivation to be a light for Christ. How can tell others about Christ without a heart of love?  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12?3-31) Just as this verse says. There is no command greater than these, because love is the foundation of the Christian life.

Now picture God the Father seeing his Son beaten and crucified, knowing his Son was enduring our pain in obedience to the Father for the purpose of redeeming mankind. The Father desperately wants us to accept his Son as our Lord as Savior, as shown by the price the Father and Son paid to save us. He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32) The emotional and physical pain the Father and the Son went through, all because of the love they have for you and me. When that love pierces our hearts, it changes our heart

Today remember what Jesus went through to bridge the gap that existed between us and the Father.  Always remember the love the Father has for us, by sending his Son to die for our sins. Every Christian should think deeply on what Christ has done for us.

Prayer: Lord thank you for saving me through your sacrifice on the cross. Let the cross pierce my heart filling me with your divine love, motivating me to be light in this world. In Jesus name, Amen
