Have the Same Mindset as Christ Jesus
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:6-8
Jesus never did a miracle for himself, which meant he went through life with no more power than we have. He did this so his life would identify with our life, and it enabled him to fully understand the temptations and struggles we have. Jesus came to serve mankind, revealing God’s love and demonstrating the life we are created to live. And we are here to serve mankind, guided by Christ to bring God’s love and truth to the world; and that is why we are being molded to the mind of Christ.
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (James 4:6) How can we bring Christ to people if we are not humble and show value to everyone? Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, (Philippians 3:2) We must show value to others because God loves them and they are created in His image. We look at lost souls, seeing who they can be if they accept Christ.
A humble heart comes natural when we truly know God. We must be secure in Christ to be humble, because our identity doesn’t come from people, it comes from God. When our identity comes from God, we are confident yet we are humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. (1 Peter 5:6) We are humble but the power of God works in us, and we become a light on a hill, reflecting Jesus to the world. If we are not humble, how can Christ work through us?
Today seek to be humble and reflect Jesus to everyone. Every Christian should depend on Christ to guide their words with a loving humble heart. Seek to lift everyone up today with encouraging words.
Prayer: Lord help me to live every day with a humble heart and show value to everyone. In Jesus name, Amen
