Have the Mindset of Jesus

Posted on

Have the Attitude of Jesus in your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:5-8

We are told in the verses above to have the same mindset of Jesus, and that is what God is molding us to be. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) For all who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus.

Jesus did not use His power for his own benefit, he used his power to help others. We serve the Lord not in our own power, but we serve using the Lord’s guidance and power. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) We can do nothing without Christ therefore we depend on Christ always being with us; just as Jesus and the Father are one, we are one with Christ.

Jesus took on the nature of a servant, and that is what we are called to be, a servant. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. (Mark 10:43) If we are secure in Christ, we desire to serve others. We serve others by sacrificing our time to help others, because we think of serving God and others first.

He humbled himself, and if we are humble we have a close relationship with Christ, because we will truly see God and we will truly see ourselves, and the difference is as the heavens are higher than the earth. When we are secure in Christ we live as His servant with our hearts being dependent on Christ, and we are humble because pride is destroyed. All our pride is in Christ.

Jesus was obedient to death, and we will be obedient to death. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) We have lost the fear of physical death because life is in our spirit, and our spirit never dies. As the body without the spirit is dead, (James 2:26) When the body dies, we are still alive.

Today have the same mindset as Jesus, and live as a secure humbled servant, doing everything as serving Christ.

Prayer: Lord guide me in the Spirit to have the same mindset as Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen
