Have a Thankful Heart
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34
Today is Thanksgiving and it is a special time to give thanks. Today is a time to give thanks for family, friends, and especially to the Lord because Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17) Everything good in our lives comes from the Lord and his blessings are endless for those in his family. So whether you are with family today, or with friends, or even if you are alone; we all will be celebrating Thanksgiving with the Holy Spirit, the Father and the Son.
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18). The Lord tells us to be thankful in all circumstances because a thankful heart has a great effect on our attitude. A thankful heart overcomes negativity in our life and can fill us with hope, joy, contentment, and security. This is the comfort we receive from the Lord when we show thankfulness to him. We can always thank the Lord because he is always with us and gives us his strength, wisdom, comfort, and love, so we can endure anything in life. And most importantly, we have an eternal home waiting for us.
Today, not only be thankful for family and friends, but place an emphasis on thankfulness to the Lord who brings everything good into our lives. Let every day be thanksgiving to the Lord.
Prayer: Lord thank you for this day and for my family, friends, and my Christian brothers and sisters. Let the Spirit instill in me a thankful heart each day of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
