Good Called Evil and Evil Called Good

Posted on

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Isaiah 5:20

There are a number of people who call evil good and good evil because they don’t know the Lord. They live in their own truth and they live for their own fleshly desires. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8:13)

In this world, we see evil called good and good called evil because most of the world lives by Satan’s lies and deceptions. People are spiritual beings because life is in their eternal soul, and they are either controlled by Satan’s lies and deception, or by God’s truth. Satan’s goal is to destroy Christians and we can see that everything he does is to deceive people into thinking God’s Word is evil and that freedom comes by living for our fleshly desires.

They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. (John 16:2) We see today where more Christian churches are being shut down and where people are killing Christians for their service to God and their understanding of God.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 3:1-4) People who can be identified in the above verses are living for their flesh and call evil good and good evil.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) It is critical that we fight Satan and not people because there is no room in a Christian’s heart for hate, except hate for sin. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? (Matthew 5:44-46)

Today, reflect Christ’s love and kindness and be prepared to tell others about God’s truth. When people become argumentative about the Truth, remain calm and respond with kindness and respect.

Prayer: Lord, let me always be prepared to bring your Truth to the world, and to always tell others about eternal life and forgiveness through Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
