God’s Truth is Eternal

Posted on

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32

The human will is very powerful causing people to have their own truth including some Christians that mix their truth with God’s Truth. People can believe any truth they desire, but God’s truth never changes and we are judged by God’s truth.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) Satan attempts to deceive Christians by having them justify their own will, especially in the last days. Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.” (Matthew 24:4) This was Jesus’ answer when his apostles asked him what would be the signs in the last days. Jesus is telling his apostles to be aware of Satan’s deceptions and he is also telling us the same.

Many people have their own truth and refuse to seek God’s truth. Satan’s lies are effective because he knows the power of our self-will. In our sinful nature we desire to be in control of our own life, making ourselves into our own gods.

God’s truth never changes and I have found bringing God’s truth to people who believe their own truth is often very difficult. The power of our self-will is extremely strong making it a continuous battle between our truth and God’s truth. Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23) We can overcome our truth if we have the self-discipline to follow the Spirit and accept God’s truth.  If we put serving Christ our first priority in life, then we seek to live by God’s Truth.

Today, accept God’s truth from the Word and from the Spirit. Remember God’s truth never changes and his truth sets us free.  Our truth will never set us free and never give us eternal life.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in the Spirit and in your Word to always live by your Truth, putting you first in my life. Let the Spirit warn me when Satan tempts me by live my truth.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
