God’s Plan for You

Posted on

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever asked God what his plan is for your life? Have you been serving the Lord and still waiting for him to reveal his plan? I have been asked this question by more people than I can remember.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5) God is telling Jeremiah that he created him to be a prophet, but it was Jeremiah’s choice to be a prophet or not to be a prophet. God has created us and has a unique plan for our life, but it is up to us to follow the Holy Spirit as God molds us to fulfill his plan.

If we follow the Spirit each day searching for opportunities to point people to Christ, we will be living God’s plan. It is important to be proactive in our ministry which means we look for opportunities to minister. We minister by showing Christ through our attitude, words, and actions, and whenever possible we tell them about Christ. This is God’s plan for everyone, seeking to show people Christ-like behavior and tell them about Christ. When the Lord sees our motivation and hears our prayers for those we are ministering to, he will call us to more challenging service. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

We continually seek to serve the Lord by our Christ-like behavior and by seeking opportunities to tell others about Christ. The Spirit will guide us by opening these opportunities. Sometimes an opportunity will open and we may think it is beyond our capability and Satan will put fear in front of us. If God is leading us in his plan, then he knows we are capable through him. However, it will take work, which includes study of the Word, perhaps study of a special topic found in Christian books, help from other Christians, and always prayer. The plan of God may require other people with different skills. Just know that God has called you to his plan and all things are possible for God. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Although we are motivated to serve the Lord, it is important to slow down and discuss everything with God in prayer. It was over a year, as God was slowly guiding me, to start the Eternal Walk Ministry. And much prayer was needed, to be sure this is what called me do. The Lord is still guiding this ministry and much prayer is needed to follow his plan.

Today serve the Lord with all your heart as he guides you in his plan. Search for opportunities to serve the Lord and do everything to the best of your ability. Continue to learn, from his Word, from specialized study, and experiencing the Lord in your life. Serve the Lord and fulfill his plan for you today.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to fulfill your plan for my life this day. Help me to focus this day searching for souls that need encouragement and need to hear about you. Lord, thank you for guiding me in your divine plan and molding me to be Christ-like. In Jesus name, Amen.
