God’s Love versus Satan’s Fear

Posted on

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

God’s perfect love in our hearts overrides Satan’s fear.  Satan’s goal is to make us fearful of the unknown future, especially in the last days.  Persecution of Christians is Satan’s plan to make us fearful, but history shows us that when the Christian church is persecuted, we grow closer to the Lord, and more people turn to Christ.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” (Matthew 9:37) Today, the harvest is plentiful because many people are fearful of the future and Christ has the answer to overcoming their fears. We are the few workers called by the Lord to bring the Gospel to people. Telling others about God’s perfect love and forgiveness increases God’s love in our hearts taking away our fear and motivating us to bring the Lord’s love to others.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’. (Luke 10:27) When we love the Lord more than anyone or anything, we will be closer to the Lord with a dependent heart and with a heart filled with the Lord’s love. As we strive to be closer to the Lord, Satan’s fear goes away.  We cannot have God’s love and Satan fear in our hearts because they cannot coexist. We reflect our fearless state of mind to the world and explain how Christ takes away our fear.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) With hearts of love, we know the Lord and that motivates us to serve Him. There are 365 scriptures in the Word telling us not to fear because the Lord has the perfect way to set us free from Satan’s fear. Serve the Lord, love increases in our hearts, love connects us closer to the Lord, the Lord takes away our fear, and love motivates us to serve the Lord thereby continuing the cycle.

Love draws us closer to the Lord, and the closer we are to the Lord, the more we overcome the fear of physical death. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Life is in our soul, it’s not in our temporary flesh.

Today, know that God’s love is in your heart and it will decrease any fear and anxiety. Love increases as we serve the Lord reflecting His divine love to others. Serve the Lord today and increase the love in your heart.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for your love taking away Satan’s attack of fear.  Guide me in the Spirit to carry your love to others, so your love will continue taking away Satan’s fear.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
