God Works all Things for Good
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.Romans 8:28
Romans 8:28 is a powerful promise from God for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Note this verse says, “all things,” which includes both good things and tragic things. To understand this scripture, we must view life through the eyes of God. We know the Lord is in Heaven, that his principle concern is to mold us to be the image of his Son, and that his ultimate goal is to bring us home to live with him forever in Heaven.
If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15) It’s God’s love in our hearts that motivates us to serve him, and the more of his love we bring to others, the more love we have in our hearts. While we strive to obey the Lord, we are not perfect, but, thankfully, God looks at the heart. It’s good that God looks at our hearts since we live out of our spiritual heart, and our heart is reflected by our thoughts. A Christian’s heart seeks to always obey God because our hearts are filled with God’s love, however, since we have a fleshly, sinful nature, we cannot perfectly obey. If our hearts are striving to be filled with God’s love, it will drive us to live for God’s purpose, then we know God will work all things for our good and his glory.
The good that God works for us in all things is first spiritual and then physical. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. (Matthew 10:28) The Lord does not look at physical death as most people look at physical death. The Lord is concerned about our eternal spiritual soul over this short temporary physical life. While on this earth, we take care of our physical body because it is the temple for the Holy Spirit, but we give our life in Heaven priority, because it’s where we get a new perfect body that lives forever.
Today, know that the Lord is working all things for your good even through this worldwide virus. Keep the faith and know God has total control to purify Christians and to bring lost souls to Christ. The Lord is calling us to point people to Christ, through the Holy Spirit and with much prayer.
Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with your joy because you are working all things for my good, bringing me closer to you. Lord, help me to live for eternity and see this life as vapor. In Jesus’ name, Amen
