God Makes Us Complete

Posted on

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete.

Colossians 2:9

What does it mean that we are created in the image of God, and what does it mean to be complete? So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) Since God designed us and created us in his image, then he should know how to make us complete. God loves us more than we can comprehend and created us to live with him forever in heaven. Therefore we will never be fully complete until we are in the presence of God in heaven.

Since we are created to live with God forever, our soul seeks to live in a continuous state of love, peace, joy, comfort and security; because this is the heavenly life with God. Unfortunately we are living in a fallen sinful world, so how can we experience continuous love, peace, and joy in a world where everything is temporary?

Through Christ we are made complete. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. (John 16:7) The Advocate is another name for the Holy Spirit that lives in the believer.

The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. (John 14:17) Christ sends the Holy Spirit to live in the believer, and the Holy Spirit is God – Father, Son, and Spirit. We will not be in heaven with God until we leave this earth, however God comes to live with us in the Holy Spirit. God’s plan is for us to be complete when we are with him, and in this life we are with him through the indwelling Holy Spirit. How much closer can God get to us, other than filling us with his Spirit?

Now how do we connect our soul to the Holy Spirit so he can make us complete. This is a process that continues through this life which means we become more complete every day as we seek to remain faithful to the Lord. The Holy Spirit is God therefore the character of God is within us. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) Since the Spirit is with us forever, we have access to the love, joy, peace, and all the character of God continuously forever. Now our eternal soul has continuous access to the source of eternal love, joy, and peace from God, making us complete.

We connect to the Holy Spirit by worship, prayer, studying the language of God (Word), and obeying his commands. Through the Holy Spirit God is molding us to the mind of Christ so we can live like Jesus. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) The more Christ-like we become the more complete and satisfied we become.

We now live in faith, trusting the Lord to guide us through life to our heavenly home. Whatever Satan puts in front of us we take it to the Lord and with his love and divine power we overcome. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We are free in Christ and we are complete because we are one with God.

Today be free in Christ knowing he will guide you and carry you through anything that can happen today, because you are complete in Christ. Let his perfect love for you drive out any fear from Satan.  Walk this day with love, peace, joy, and confidence, all coming from our Lord.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for making me complete through Christ. Help me to know I am complete in your love through the Holy Spirit. Guide me to reflect your love to others today and let them see the peace and joy you have given me. In Jesus name, Amen
