God is Love

Posted on

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:7-8

God’s love is infinite and his beyond our understanding. God is the source of love, and his love is as powerful and his ability to create the universe. If we pray for the Lord to help us understand God’s love, we will be changed forever, because how can we not fully trust the Lord because of his great love for us.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ the second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31) The greatest thing in life is to have our hearts filled with God’s unconditional agape love, and God’s love in our hearts is the only thing that sets us free; which includes being free from self.  Love in our hearts is the foundation of the Christian life.

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)  Love changes our heart and love overcome our sins, because love enables us to control our thoughts and emotions. Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:10)

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) From this verse we can see that evil people in the world have been deceived by Satan, and Satan is our enemy, not people.  Christians love all people on the planet plus our enemy, because all people are created in the image of God. The more love we have for all people, the more we will hate sin.

There is no greater command than love, because love makes all the commands in the Word desirable and natural to us. Love is the foundation of conforming to the image of His Son. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son. (Romans 8:29) All those accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, are predestined to conform to the imagine of His Son. If God is love, how can we have the mind and heart of Christ, without having a heart of unconditional agape love?

Today think about the perfect love God has for you, and Christ died on the cross because his love for us and the Father. If Christ died because He loved the Father, shouldn’t we have the courage to die for Christ?  Many in this world are being killed because they are Christians an they refuse to deny Christ; these are the heroes of the faith, and great is their reward in Heaven.

Prayer: Father, continue to fill my heart with your love, so I can be more like Jesus in this world. In Jesus name, Amen
