God is Love

Posted on

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:7

We will know the Lord more as His loves fills our hearts, and its love that gives us a close relationship with the Him. Love changes our heart, it brings us closer to the Lord, motivates us to serve Him, and gives us a heart to minister to people. Love in our hearts makes us more like Christ.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this:  Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31) Love is the foundation of the Christian life because love changes our hearts to be more like Christ. Love makes the lord’s commands natural to us and gives us power to overcome Satan’s temptations.  The more of the Lord’s love we have in our hearts the more we love people and the more we hate sin.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. (1 John 4:14) We are close to the Lord because our hearts are filled with His love, and from His close presence we know and feel His love. This takes away our fear from Satan, however when Satan tempts us with fear we run to the Lord to escape in His love.

Christ’s love draws us to be with Him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)  The greatest thing in life is to know Christ, having a close loving relationship, and the world can offer nothing that compares. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; (Philippians 1:23) Paul was torn between departing and being with Christ, or remaining to finish the ministry Christ had for him. Paul was close to the Lord and desired to be with Him, because Paul’s heart was filled with love, and God is love. The more love we have in our hearts the more we desire to be with the Father and the Son.

Today reflect the Lord’s love to others. This pleases the Lord and he will fill your heart with His contentment and His love.

Prayer:  Lord, fill my heart with your love and guide me in the Spirit to bring your love to others. In Jesus name, Amen
