God Holds Nothing Back
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
If God provides life to the full meaning nothing is missing, then how can our loving God hold something back? He fills our soul from Heaven and provides for our worldly needs. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) This verse is a promise from God that if we put him first in our life our worldly needs will be given to us.
Satan is always tempting us, saying we need something that God is withholding from us. In our prideful nature, we seek things in this world that could be sinful or something that will take priority over God. Satan will do anything to get a foothold in our life, and it doesn’t have to be sinful, but anything that will take priority over God, because Satan wants us to be our own god. You shall have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:3)
We will know that the Lord holds nothing from us when we give him first priority in our life, serving him by following the Spirit. The Spirit fills our soul with love, peace, and joy. Serving the Lord fills our heart with love and faith making us content and satisfied. Since our soul is fulfilled from Heaven through the Spirit, we recognize our life is blessed by the Lord, because he provides for our needs and we have life to the full. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2 Peter 1:3).
When Satan tempts us to sin, or with something that temporarily takes priority over God, we are saying that God is withholding something from us, and I know what I need more than God knows what I need. This could be considered lack of faith, and it is revealing pride. But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (James 4:6)
Today give the Lord first priority and serve him following the Spirit. Your soul will be filled with love, peace, and joy and the Lord will enable you to live a fulfilling life, meeting your needs. Live each day with faith in the Lord, knowing he holds nothing back, but provides life to the full.
Prayer: Lord thank you for filling me with the Holy Spirit and for giving me life to the full in this fallen world. Guide me in the Spirit to always put you first in my life, and to be motivated to serve you every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen
