God Gives Us a New Heart

Posted on

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:26

The new heart God talks about is the spiritual heart where our emotions and desires dwell along with our beliefs. When we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord of our life, God molds us to the mind of Christ which gives us a new heart. God changes our emotions, desires and beliefs, to conform to the truth of his Word. He changes our heart from a worldly centered heart to a spiritually centered heart.

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) God examines and tests our heart by listening to our thoughts which reveals everything about us. The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5) If you want to be pleasing to the Lord then ask the Lord to help you control your thoughts and emotions. If we can control our thoughts and emotions, then we are free in Christ and with our new heart we are in control through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God listens to our thoughts because our thoughts direct our words and our actions, and reveals to God what needs to be changed in us. If we desire to change and become the person we were created to be, then God will change us if we follow his guidance. God must test our heart in order for to change us, and we must experience trials in our life to strengthen our heart to overcome the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world (1 John 5:4). We build physical strength by opposing force and we build spiritual strength by overcoming trials in life. The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests hearts (Proverbs 17:3). Whatever happens in life, God will work for your good, using it to give you a new heart. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

God molds us to the mind of Christ, giving us a new heart, and we reap life to the full. We never fully reach the mind of Christ, but we are continually becoming more Christ-like which means our life continues to become more fulfilling until our last breath, and then we go to our heavenly reward where life is perfect forever.

Today, seek to walk today with the heart of Christ. Commune with Lord, read scripture, pray, minister to lost souls, because the more we seek the Lord and serve him, the more we become like him. Remember to show Christ to everyone by your attitude and actions and walk in God’s love with peace and joy today.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for continually changing my heart. Make me more Christ-like today and use everything today to mold my heart. Help me to be more Christ-like, as I strive to be more Christ-like. In Jesus name, Amen
