Give God the Glory

Posted on

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

We give God the glory because it benefits us and brings us closer to God with more faith. God is self-sufficient and needs nothing, but he loves us and wants us to glorify him so we depend with a thankful heart for everything. Everything God wants us to do from his divine Word, is for our benefit and reward.

Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water. (Revelations 14:7) Giving God the glory keeps us from being prideful, because God opposes the prideful, but gives grace to the humble, which means we are secure in Christ. And we live with a thankful heart because we know Heaven is our home.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18) We grow as we learn the Word of God and when we obey the Word. When we obey the Word, we are blessed, then the Word is more understandable to us.  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) We must obey the Word and receive the blessing of God to fully understand the Word. And the blessings that come from obedience of the Word, give us thankful heart and we give the glory to God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) We can see how Christ gave glory to the Father by teaching us from the Word, and he glorified God by going to the cross for our sins.  God the Father put Christ in charge to forgive our sins and to present us to Father as perfect. And we glorify God by obeying his divine truth from the Word, which comes from faith.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) We trust the Lord’s way over our own understanding, because his ways are higher than our ways as the Heavens are high er the earth.

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) We cannot fully understand God’s ways until we obey his commands, and we will understand some time later. We may not see how God is working in our life, but he is always working to make us more like Jesus, then after he has made some changes in us, we will understand. We give glory to God because we trust his ways over our worldly ways., and that is what it means to live by faith.

Today seek to obey the Word of God and give thankfulness to God. Be humble and give God the glory to God.

Prayer:  Lord guide me to obey your divine Word, and to have more understanding of your ways in my life.  Help me to live by faith that is pleasing to you. In Jesus name, Amen
