Give Christ Priority

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

This verse tells us to put the kingdom of God and his righteousness first, and He will take care of our needs. Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:24) From this scripture we are told to follow Christ, and when we give Christ priority in our life, we will have life to the full. We may think we are living a secure comfortable life, but unless we give Christ priority, we miss life to the full that only comes from God.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 5:20) This statement by the apostle Paul defines what it means to put Christ first in our lifeI am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 11:12-13) Paul lived an extremely difficult life, but the Lord gave him contentment in every circumstance, and when we put Christ first, we can be content in all circumstances.  The Lord will give us what we can never find in the world.

Christ continuously brings contentment and joy to our souls; and our soul is our thoughts, personality, and will. We can never have lasting contentment or joy from the world.  However, when our soul is content, we can fully enjoy the world, because we need nothing from the world that will bring us contentment more than Christ. Now we enjoy things in the world that we probably took for granted.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) No one can give us better more fulfilling life than God, because he created us and knows each of us better than we know our self.  With faith, we will put Christ first in our life and receive the promise of life to the full from God.

Today live for Christ doing everything as doing it for Christ.  You are an ambassador for Christ, reflecting Jesus in this world. Your life today has a divine meaning.

Prayer:  My desire is to put Christ first in my life. Guide me in the Spirit to put Christ first, so that it is pleasing to You. In Jesus name, Amen
