Give All of Self
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
The apostle Paul gave all of self to Christ, and he was so close to Christ that he desired to be with Christ. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. (Philippians 1:23-24) How many Christians do you know that give all of self to Christ? Satan has deceived the world such as they many Christians think they are giving all to Christ.
God’s plan is to send us the Holy Spirit and fill our hearts with his unconditional sacrificial love. When our hearts are filled with God’s divine love, all the commands in the Word are now the desire of our hearts. We eagerly die to self, and give all of self to Christ, because that is how we are created to live. What now happens is that the will of God is now our desire, because his will is more desirable than our own will.
With heart filled with God’s love, we will know God, because God is love. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) We know the Lord and our faith totally trusts the Lord and his ways. We eagerly give all of self to Christ, because we trust his will over our will. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Faith that pleases God is when we trust him completely and stop leaning our own understanding.
People are reluctant to give all of self to Christ, because they don’t know the blessings of living according to God’s will, because Satan has deceived them. We are created to live in the image of God, which is not the way Satan has the world living. If we have the faith to live according to God’s plan, we will experience divine blessings.
Today seek to give all of self to Christ, and you will be walking in the power of God being a light in this dark world.
