From Mind to Heart

Posted on

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 4:23

The Lord looks at our heart because it reveals the reason for everything we do. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7). The Word to fill our minds and we follow the Spirit doing what it says, and our hearts will change. God changes our heart as he molds us to the image of His Son, and a heart of God’s love is the motivation that pleases God. This is why it is imperative that God’s Word fills both our minds and hearts.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. (1 John 4:16-17) When the Word and God’s love enters the heart, our life is motivated to resemble the life of Jesus. We now depend on the Lord to be with us when we witness to the world, and we live in the Word because the power is in the words of God.

The process of the Word entering our hearts continues till our last breath, and God’s love will continually increase in our hearts making us more like Jesus. If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15) We follow the Spirit in keeping the Lord’s commands and our hearts change and the commands become our desire. The love in our minds now enters our hearts, and we are changed. Christ is our life and we are motivated to tell the world about Christ. We care about all people, and we are motivated to minister to everyone because our hearts are sad for lost souls. We are now living as created and we are living as Jesus, life to the full.  How can we live as Jesus, without a heart filled with God’s love?

God’s love in our hearts, take the focus off self and places in on God and others.  We can never be free in Christ until we are free of self. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) We now trust the Lord to guide us through life, our focus is on serving Christ and bringing Christ to the world. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) Taking care of self and our family is actually easier when we put Christ first in our life.

Today put Christ and others first. Continue today with worldly business, but remain connected to Christ and reflect Jesus. We can reflect Jesus at all times, no matter what we are doing.

Prayer:  Lord let the love and knowledge or your Word in my mind, fill my heart more each day. Let your love in my heart bring me closer to You and set me free to overcome the world. In Jesus name, Amen
