Forgiveness is Through Christ
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
We have forgiveness because Christ died on the cross for our sins. Christ knows our sinful nature and he forgives us when we ask with Godly sorrow, and we ask for his power to overcome any sinful habits. And Christ presents us to the Father as perfect.
Christ gives us his strength to overcome all temptations, and he will not let us be tempted beyond our ability to escape. The more we try to overcome sinful temptations and habits, the more Christ helps us. We become strong spiritual warriors, but we can never be perfect. When the Lord sees our effort to overcome sin, and the godly sorrow we have we yield to sin; the more strength he and forgiveness he gives us. The more we forgive others the more forgiveness we receive. For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (Matthew 6:14)
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) We repent of our sins and he gives us his strength to overcome temptations. When we are tempted by Satan or by our own evil desires, we call on the Lord for his strength to change our thoughts. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) The Lord always enables us to escape a temptation, but we must have a plan of escape and call on the Lord to add his strength to make the plan successful. Like anything in life, we need a plan, but we are guaranteed victory if we truly try to escape a sinful temptation.
Today fight off any sinful temptations through the power of the Lord. Don’t let Satan trigger your emotions for sinful actions. Be still inside and stay calm, then you can be in control by the Spirit.
Prayer: Lord guide me in the Spirit away from sinful temptations. And let me live today in your power to overcome any sinful desires. In Jesus name, Amen
