Finding the Narrow Road

Posted on

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Matthew 7:13-14

This scripture states that few people find the narrow road to life, which implies that few people actually take the time and effort to search for the truth. Instead, and by default, people follow the ways of the world, which is the broad road to destruction. Instead of finding God’s truth, people come up with their own truths, based on a foundation of virtually nothing. As long as they believe Satan’s lies, their consciences are relaxed and they are fine with their own truths. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3).

Satan has filled many people in this world with his agenda, has blinded their hearts to life on the narrow road, and has them walking in darkness on the broad road. Satan’s goal is to take Christians from God through fear. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand  (Isaiah 41:10). Fear can easily pull people away from God and make them self-centered.

It is impossible for Satan to destroy a Christian; the only one who can destroy us is ourselves. God protects our souls from the evil one, but he gives us free will, and Satan will use fear to pull us away from God. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me (Psalm 118:6)? We stand strong and victorious in this world through the infinite love and power of our Lord, because through Christ we have overcome the world and all the evil in it. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44). We are called by Christ to pray for our enemies, which includes the people on the broad road who are trying to push us off of the narrow road. With the end of time getting closer every day, as seen by the persecution of God’s people, we need to pray for these lost souls. Why? Because the time is coming when everyone will know the truth but it will be too late. We need to pray and bring God’s love to these lost souls and help them find the narrow road of life.   If we point one soul to the narrow road, it’s a victory in Christ because every soul is created in the image of God and worth more than all the riches in the world.

Today be a light for Christ to everyone, including people you may consider to be enemies. Pray for your enemies, that God might somehow bring the truth to them. Pray for our leaders and for God’s will to be done. Walk in victory because you have the power of God within you.  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Through the Holy Spirit you have power over Satan and his demons, and you have the power of God to stand strong against Satan’s people.

Let’s Pray: Lord, guide me to be a Light for Christ in this dark evil world, and to point people to the narrow road. Give me the courage and wisdom to stand strong for Christ against Satan’s broad road to destruction. Lord, take away any fear that comes from your wrath on the world. Instead, let it draw me closer to you. In Jesus name, Amen.
