The Father Takes Care of His Family

Posted on

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 55:22

Do you think the Heavenly Father is capable of taking care of those in his family, those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior and live by the Spirit? Do we have the security to surrender our lives to Christ and become his servants, giving him control? The Lord desires that we trust him completely and that we know that he will guide us through every detail of our lives into eternity.

The relationship between us and God is often biased by the relationships we have with our earthly fathers. When we were disciplined as children we didn’t always agree with it. God has infinite knowledge, infinite love, and infinite power, and he disciplines us with the goals of molding us to be Christ-like, protecting our souls, and providing for our needs. Do we understand everything that God is doing in our lives? Are we following the Spirit so that he can mold us to be Christ-like? And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) If our faith is not pleasing to God, and we are not earnestly seeking him, how secure can we be in Christ?

In the Eternal Walk Daily Message posted on January 22, 2018 entitled “The Faith That Pleases God”, we learned of two things that can hinder our faith: Fear and doubt. When the Spirit leads us we sometimes procrastinate, make excuses, or justify not obeying. I have found that periodically examining my faith can be very revealing. Am I proactive in seeking to serve the Lord? Am I communing with the Lord? Am I eager to obey his will, or am I walking through my days self-absorbed with the tasks to be done? Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24)   All of our time belongs to God, to serve him and to glorify his name in our hearts and to the world.

How do we earnestly seek him? Can we earnestly seek him by reading his Word, praying, and worshipping? Yes, but we must follow the Spirit and be obedient to his will. But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22) Obeying the Lord and following the Spirit with obedient faith pleases the Lord. And true obedience, bringing Christ to lost souls, drives us into the Word, prayer, and fellowship. Faith is the catalyst for the Christian life. Everything depends on faith grounded in our love for the Lord. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Today be secure in God’s family, knowing that he is molding you and that he cares for you. Pray, and put your total trust in the Lord. Walk in obedience giving the Lord your best, and picture a smile on the Lord’s face. How secure can we be when we are pleasing to the Lord?

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to know that I am in your family and to always put my faith in you. Guide me, through the Spirit, to obey your divine will. Give me courage, wisdom, and a heart of love to bring Christ to this lost world. In Jesus name, Amen
