Faith without Doubt

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Our faith must be pleasing to God, otherwise it is impossible to please Him. Our faith shows our dependence on God, that we know him, that we trust his thoughts and his ways over our thoughts and our ways. Destroying all doubt in our prayers can be difficult, but it is possible through prayer.

Satan desires we doubt God and that God doesn’t have our best interest in mind. But God loves us perfectly and wants us to know his Son and to trust his love completely. Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)   Faith is confidence that God will answer our prayers, and if our prayer brings glory to God, he will answer. We try to trust his answer and his timing in the answering of our prayers.

If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters–yes, even their own life–such a person cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:26) This verse is important in having faith without doubt. We love the Lord more than anyone or anything on the planet, to the point that comparison for our love to God to our love for people, he uses the word “hate”. This implies that we love the Lord and we are closer to Him than anyone. As a result, we will have more of His love for family and others.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) We live by guidance of Christ through the Spirit. If we are close to the Lord, then we can be his servant and the Lord is our Master. If we see ourselves as the Lord’s servants, we can pray for whatever the Spirit puts on our hearts. As his servants, we trust the Lord with our prayers and accept the Master’s answer and timing.

Doubt occurs when we live as his servants but do not fully trust the Lord’s ways and his timing and we rely on our ways and our timing.  If we trust the Lord’s ways and timing, the more He answers our prayers according to our will because our faith is without doubt. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6) It is great blessing to trust the Lord with faith without doubt because it brings you closer to the Lord and increases our freedom in Christ.

Today, live with faith that pleases God and trust the Lord’s guidance. Pray for whatever the Spirit puts on your heart. Live today as the Lord’s servant.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to trust you with no doubt, to trust your ways and your timing, as I live as your servant. Thank you for seeing me worthy to be your servant. In Jesus’ name, Amen
