Faith and Dependence
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
From the above verse we know our faith must be pleasing to God, because our faith is an indication of how well we know the Lord. And what is faith without depending on Christ? If Christ was walking with us in the flesh at all times, we would definitely depend on him, but Christ lives within us through the Spirit, and we cannot see him in the physical, so where does that leave our dependence?
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love. (Ephesians 3:16-17) If we have faith, we can live with divine strength and power, however it is important that our faith must motivate us to put our life in the hands of Christ.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul put his life in the hands of Christ, always seeking to live by the will of Christ, and his faith was definitely pleasing to God. The more we surrender our will to the will of Christ, the better our life becomes because Christ guides us through life with his divine love, power, and wisdom.
Satan’s goal is to keep us from fully surrendering our will to Christ, because he knows how easy it is to depend on self. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) If we do everything for Christ and we depend on him being with us, then we will always depend on him with a thankful heart. We can do everything for Christ if we pray for guidance in everything we do.
Today do everything as doing it for Christ, and depend on Christ to get you through the day, and seek to reflect Christ at all times.
Prayer: Lord, help me to depend on you for everything, and to always guide me through the day. In Jesus name, Amen
