Exercise Your Faith

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

God is pleased when we put our faith in Him, even when we are not able to understand his thoughts and his ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)  We are the Lord’s servants and with faith we trust his thoughts and his ways over our thoughts and our ways. We exercise our faith for whatever the Spirit puts on our hearts and we pray for his glory. At this time of a worldwide threat of this new virus, we can exercise our faith through prayer.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) Faith is leaning on the Lord’s understanding, but we pray for his glory according our understanding. We pray for good health, recovery from the virus, and an end to the virus. We pray that all Christians will pray, and non-Christians will accept Christ and pray.  It is prime time to pray for others, especially for non-Christians for they are less likely to reject our prayers at this time.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)  We are comforted by the Lord, and even more comforted when we pray, and we can comfort others by seeking to bring them closer to the Lord and bring non-Christians to the Lord.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. (1 Peter 2:13)  When those in authority agree with our Lord, then we are called to obey.  Those in authority have set guidelines in an effort to slow down and stop the spread of this virus. We should follow these guidelines because our actions can affect ourselves and others. We do our best to protect ourselves and to protect others, and we continue to pray.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)  Let the current situation in the world increase your faith and draw you closer to the Lord, because he will work all things for your good.

Today serve the Lord by following the guidelines given by those in authority, and continue to pray. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)  Pray for the glory of God and remember all things are possible.

Prayer:  Lord, I pray this virus will end and people will glorify your name.  Lord, we put our faith in you and your ways. Lead us as your servants in this time of need.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
