Eternity

Posted on

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

John 17:3

Many people in this world give little thought about eternity, and many don’t even grasp the full meaning of eternity. The more we grasp the meaning of eternity, the more we will surrender to Christ, because this short life is the one and only chance we have to get right with God.

The definition of eternity is – endless or infinite; which means after we physically die, our spirit with our new body, will live forever.  We are so used to aging and seeing the world changing, and we see time going by every day with memories of our past. Time doesn’t exist in Heaven or hell, because we live forever, and we cannot imagine life without time.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) God has put eternity in our hearts, but how often do we think about eternity? Satan keeps us busy in the world with a goal to keep our minds away from eternity. Being eternally minded is important because it will keep us away from sin and make us closer to Christ.

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1) We never know exactly what may happen tomorrow, because the future is unknown, even though we have plans for tomorrow.  We should never take tomorrow for granted, but live every minute of our life serving the Lord.

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14) Tomorrow is not promised, which means we live each day to the full for the Lord, because we never know when we will take our last breath.  We should be prepared to leave this earthly life at any time with eternity in our minds, because eternity in our minds keeps us serving the Lord forever.

Today think about eternity and know that everything can have eternal consequences. God put eternity in our hearts and don’t let Satan take away.

Prayer:  Father, help me to live each day for eternal life. And serve Christ who leads me to my Heavenly home. In Jesus name, Amen
