Eternal Life – Father and the Son

Posted on

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

John 17:3

Without the Father and the Son being in Heaven, then Heaven would just be a place. A true Christian seeks to be closer to the Lord in this life, and anxiously awaits to be in Heaven with the Father and he Son. The glory of the Father and the Son will flow through us and we feel fantastic forever.

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. (Revelations 21:23) God brings the light in Heaven, and all the blessings flow through us and we feel great beyond words. We will need nothing in Heaven except the Father and the Son. But we will live on new knew earth where sin doesn’t exist, and we will never be bored because life will be fulfilling forever, because the Father and the Son are with us, and they never get bored.

We experience divine peace, joy, and security in this life, the closer we are to the Lord. But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11:28) We obey the Lord by following the Holy Spirit, and our soul will be filled with divine peace and joy; and our hearts filled with God’s love.  The divine blessings from Heaven that fill our soul, are far above earthy blessing fed to us through the flesh.

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; (Philippians 1:23) The apostle Paul was extremely close to the Lord and his desire was to depart and be with Christ.   This is what happens to us when we are close to the Lord, we desire to leave this sinful world and be with Christ. When we depend on the Lord with faith that pleases him, we are continually drawn to Christ, with the same attitude as Paul.

He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) God put eternity in our hearts, and when will live to serve the Lord with hearts that depend on the Lord, the eternity in our heart surfaces into our conscious thought. We now desire to depart because eternal life because we are motivated to be with the Father and the Son.

Today seek to be closer to the Lord, and depend on him to guide you through the day. The closer you are to Christ, the closer we desire to be. This is the process God planned for us, to motivate us to be in Heaven with the Father and the Son.

Prayer:  Lord help me to be eternally minded, to live to serve Christ, and Heaven is my home.  In Jesus name, Amen
