Each Day is a Gift
This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
Every morning, we should thank the Lord for giving us another day to live and for the blessing of serving Christ. How easy it is to take each day for granted? If we are grateful, we will live this day for the Lord. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)
We are not promised tomorrow and we should be thankful for each day of life and live each day to the fullest glorifying and serving the Lord. Living each day serving the Lord gives our life divine meaning. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20) When our ambassadorship is complete, we go home.
We thank the Lord for each day by living each day for his glory. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1) We may have plans for tomorrow, but we can only serve the Lord today; we can only serve the Lord now. Live today for the Lord and live tomorrow for the Lord when tomorrow comes. Keep your thoughts on serving the Lord as you go through the day praying for opportunities to tell someone about Christ.
When we are thankful for each day, we can enjoy the day more and we seek to live it to the full. Every day is important and is an opportunity to tell someone about Christ. You make known to me the path of life, in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forever more. (Psalm 16:11 ESV) If we seek to live each day with a thankful serving heart, he will guide us and fill us with his joy. When the Lord is pleased, he feeds his pleasure into our souls.
Today, thank the Lord for a new day and seek to live it for his glory. A most fulfilling day is telling someone about Christ’s love and forgiveness. The more of God’s love we have in our hearts, the more fulfilling it is to tell others about Christ.
Prayer: Lord, give me a thankful heart for each new day because each day is a gift. Guide me in the Spirit to tell others of the greatness of knowing Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen
