Don’t Yield to Satan’s Deception

Posted on

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.”

Matthew 24:3-4

In the last days, many people will be deceived by Satan’s lies that makes people believe good to be evil and evil to be good. We can look at the world around us, in media, in government, in the church, and we see people living in Satan’s deception. It is imperative that Christians know the truth from the Word, and have accountability from our Christian family so we can combat Satan’s deception in this world. Satan and his demons are working hard to take souls from God because he knows his time is short.

Satan’s goal is to find an inward route into our mind, causing us to place something in our life above the Lord, and if possible make us think it is agreeable to God. Others can see Satan’s deception in a Christian’s life, but they cannot see self-deception. That is how powerful our prideful justification can be, opening up our heart to be deceived. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) When we hear Satan’s lies, we need to resist the devil by calling on the Lord to send the devil and his lies far away. If we have to justify our desire, think again, because we never have to justify the Lord’s will.

We need to be careful and alert for Satan’s subtle attacks in the Church; the shepherds of the Church watch the flock for any that have been deceived. Satan’s desire is to slowly modify our minds so we will tolerate more compromise, so we are no longer convicted by the Spirit. Satan’s demons have been released in these last days to lead an entire generation into deception, including Christians. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) Satan knows our weaknesses and that is where he tries to deceive us.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. (Isaiah 60:1) The light of Christ is the Church and our light is to be on the hill for the world to see. We point people to Christ by combating Satan’s lies with God’s truth. The best way to keep from being deceived by Satan is to live for Christ ministering to lost souls, because it will drive us into the Word for truth, into prayer because we depend on the Lord, and into fellowship for strength and support.

Today, don’t be deceived by any of Satan’s lies but overcome his lies with God’s truth. Light always takes away darkness. Remember God is sovereign over everything and we are his precious possession and walk in victory. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (Matthew 7:13) It may seem like the whole world is walking with Satan on the wide road to destruction, but remember you are on the narrow road with many Christians in the world, all traveling this life to our Heavenly home with the Father and the Son.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in the Spirit and keep me from being deceived by Satan. Help me to be aware of any deception that I might believe and have justified. I need you to keep me in your truth. In Jesus name, Amen
