Don’t Live in Fear

Posted on

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Satan’s goal is to fill the world with fear of the unknown. His goal is to separate us from God through fear. This can cause us to seek solutions to escape the fear which can easily draw us into ourselves. However, fear can actually bring us closer to God if we seek him for comfort, strength, and guidance. The Lord will take away our fear and through our faith he will fill us with the assurance that his strength and wisdom will always carry us through any fearful situation.

Isaiah 41:10 promises that whatever happens to us in this life, God will strengthen us to endure just as he strengthened Jesus to endure the cross. Satan is out to destroy Christians and he has enticed the world against Christ. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalm 118:6) If we stand strong in Christ and do not give in to fear, then Satan cannot destroy us, because God protects us from the evil one. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

There is nothing and no one in the world that can separate us from God, except ourselves. And this is the goal of Satan, to separate us from God through fear. But fear can be a motivator to bring us closer to the Lord and receive his love, strength, and endurance. We can let Satan’s attacks be the force that drives us closer to the Lord. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) Through the power of Christ we overcome the world which means we overcome fear, Satan and his demons, evil people, sicknesses, world catastrophes, and even death.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Our physical bodies come from the earth and return to the earth, and we receive new perfect bodies to live for eternity in the new earth. The apostle Paul realized this when he said: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; (Philippians 1:21-23). Paul preferred to leave this world and go home to be with the Lord and his desire soon came true when he was executed by Nero. Today, Paul is with Christ and the hardships of his earthly life are long past, and he may not even remember them. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)

Today, let the Lord destroy any fear from Satan and choose to walk in peace and joy with a heart of love. Always remember that heaven is your home and you have overcome this world. Minister to the world, enjoy life as God intended, and always seek to be closer to the Lord. Never forget that the Lord is always with you reminding you that heaven is your home.

Let’s Pray: Lord, let any fear from Satan drive me closer to you, that I may live with peace and joy knowing my home is with you in heaven. Let the world around me see the peace that transcends understanding through my living securely in Christ. Thank you for sustaining me through life in this evil world with your perfect love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
