Don’t Let Your Love Grow Cold

Posted on

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

Matthew 24:12-13 ESV

Matthew 24 is where Jesus describes end times and one of the signs is the increase in wickedness. People who don’t know Christ are likely to lose their love for evil people, but we fight the spiritual war and not people. But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (Luke 6:27-28) Jesus showed love while he was suffering on the cross by dying for all mankind’s sins.  We show love to our last breath because we are suffering like Jesus so we can spend eternity with him in Heaven.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) We are in a spiritual war against the powers of this dark world, Satan and his demons.  Christians love people and we are sad and angry because Satan is controlling them like puppets. Our war is a spiritual war because all evil comes from Satan’s lies.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:35) Jesus told his disciples to love another, and the disciples had love in their hearts while they were martyred. And Christians today are showing love as they killed for being a Christian, because it is the power of God’s love that enables them to die for Christ. It’s easy to get angry as countries are making Christianity illegal.  Take your anger to Satan because he is responsible for turning the world against Christians.  Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. (Matthew 24:9)  This is what Jesus told his apostles what would happen in the last days. Nations will hate Christians because just as they hated Jesus.

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. (John 15:18-19) We don’t belong to the world, we belong to Christ, and, we live for our eternal home.  That makes people angry because deep in their unconscious soul, they know they are disconnected from God.  Satan has blinded their hearts to the Truth and he has people blame Christians for their unexplained anger and discomfort.

Today, if you hear or see and evil, know it is from Satan. People must suffer the consequences for their evil acts, but as Christians we show God’s love to all people. You may not show brotherly love to someone because of their evil personality, but you can show God’s agape love.

Prayer:  Lord, don’t let my love grow cold but let your love in my heart grow stronger. Help me to hate sin more and love people more. In Jesus’ name, Amen
