Don’t Conform to the World

Posted on

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

Since we live in the world it can be easy to share worldly things with the Lord. We sometimes prioritize things, and not even aware that we sharing our time between the world and with Christ.  We can evaluate where our hearts are by the thoughts we have throughout the day, and remember God knows to our thoughts.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) We can have our minds on earthly things and still have a secret communion with the Lord, because scripture says we do everything for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.  (Colossians 3:23) When we do everything for the Lord, we can do our worldly tasks and still be connected to the Lord, just as if he was standing next to us.

But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. (1 Peter 1:15) We are to remain Holy, because we are to reflect Christ at all times, even when we are alone. If we are dependent on Christ for everything we do, we can remain holy and be connected to Christ. When we do our best to remain holy and reflect Christ, then God’s blessing fills our soul.

If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. (John 15:18) This is what Jesus told his apostles, which tells us that we are closer to the Lord than we are to the world. Our thoughts are more on things above, than they are on things of the World. Our soul lives in the Kingdom while our flesh is used to minister to the world. We see the world through the eyes of God, and our words and actions are guided by Christ.

Today seek not to conform to the sinful world, such as anger, impatient, or sinful thoughts. Go through the day with peace and joy, and with patients.

Prayer: Lord, help me not to conform to this sinful world, but walk in peace and joy today reflecting the love of Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
