Don’t Be Deceived

Posted on

The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

Revelation 12:9

Satan is the great deceiver and he is an expert in deception because he knows our worldly nature. He knows the power of our self-will and he knows the desires of our flesh. Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5: 8)  Satan seeks to devour Christians by getting a foothold in our life

Do not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:27) Satan will very gently lead us toward our self-will so we will justify something, not realizing it may not please the Lord. Satan’s goal is to plant a foothold in a leader of the church to influence others. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. (2 Peter 2:2) There are churches today that have been deceived by Satan and are becoming more worldly and less holy. They are twisting the Truth so they can justify their worldly ways.

We must be aware of Satan’s deceptions and his lies, and carefully review the treasures of our hearts.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21)  God looks at our hearts and he can tell if our treasure is Christ, or in the world, or if we have a divided heart.  He does this by knowing our thoughts so we can examine our thoughts at the end of the day to determine where our treasure is.

Satan’s goal is to deceive us, making us worldly minded and seeking things of the world more than we seek God.  Every Christian fights from being deceived and every Christian has the responsibility to assure the church is remaining holy. Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.  (Galatians 6:1 NLT)

Today, be alert for Satan’s deceptions and his lies. Satan has many techniques to deceive us so be aware so that he doesn’t get a foothold. Overcome Satan’s deceptions by seeking the Lord’s will through prayer and meditation.

Prayer:  Lord, keep me from being deceived by Satan and don’t let him control my emotions that can lead to sin. Keep me on the narrow road by the power of the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name, Amen
