Does Worry Help?

Posted on

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!

Luke 12: 24

The definition of worry is to “give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.” Satan will use worry to pull us away from God, causing us to fear many things that may never happen. Can we effectively handle the difficulties in life if our minds are preoccupied with the negative thoughts of worry?

When we have fear of a specific situation or event, we can handle this fear by Godly wisdom. But how do handle irrational worry about things that may never happen? In both cases the solution is basically the same, turn the fear over to the Lord. If we are facing a specific trial in life, turn it over to the Lord and walk in accordance to his will as he guides you, and goes with you through the trial. If you tend to worry about everything, give it all to God and pray for peace. Read scriptures on God’s love because love overcomes fear. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4: 18).

Worry can have detrimental effect on our psychological, physical, and spiritual health. Worry comes from fear, and fear is toxic to our mind and body. Continuous fear leads to anxiety and can result in physical problems because the fight or flight hormones continually feed the body. Satan’s number one weapon is fear because it is the opposite of love, and God is love. Whenever you start to worry or become fearful, know Satan is attacking, and give that fear to God and rest in his love. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7). God will give you peace because he doesn’t want those in his family to walk in fear.

The more we trust the Lord and give him control as we walk as his servant, the more of his love we experience and replace it with peace and joy. When we serve the Lord and give him control we are free, we are no longer controlled by worry. We pray and the Lord guides us through life making Godly wise decisions. We serve the Lord being a light in this world, and the Lord takes divine care of his servants, and relieves us from the worry of taking responsibility for everything. God takes the responsibility, and our responsibility is to obey his good and pleasing will. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Today give the Lord your worry and seek Godly wisdom from the Spirit’s guidance. Recognize it is Satan attacking when he fills your mind worry. Combat Satan with the power of God through the Spirit as he destroys Satan’s power and guides you to victory. Remember all things are possible for God and he loves you perfectly. Every detail of your life is important to God and he greatly desires for you to trust him and he helps you to overcome the world.

Prayer: Lord, take any worry from my mind today and let me walk in Godly wisdom living in your love and power. Fill my mind and heart with your love, peace, and joy and focus on pointing souls toward heaven. Thank you for your love and your desire to guide me through life into heaven with you. In Jesus name, Amen
