Do You Trust the Lord’s Will?

Posted on

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1 John 5:14

Do we always trust the Lord’s will, even when we do not understand, or it is fearful?  As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) It takes faith to trust the Lord’s divine will over our own will. We pray and we trust the Lord’s answer because He is God and we are His servants.

That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5 ESV) Faith is accepting the Lord’s will over our will because the servant obeys the Master.  He loves us perfectly and His desire is to carry us through life into Heaven. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)

If we have faith that trusts God’s way and we walk in obedience to His divine will, we will see how He answers our prayers in His divine will.  Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) If we totally trust the Lord’s will because he is God, our Master, and we are His servants, then we can overcome the world. If we don’t have faith that trusts God’s way, will we ever overcome the world?

Often, the answer to our prayers will be according to our understanding, especially when we are ministering to others. The closer we are to the Lord and if our faith fully trusts His divine will, the more we accept His divine ways and understanding.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” (Jeremiah 29:11-12) If we trust the Lord’s ways by following the Spirit, we will prosper in His divine plan for us and our future will be filled with hope.  Faith that fully trusts and depends on the Lord shows that we know Him and His love for us.

Today, trust the Lord’s will as Christ leads you through the Spirit. Follow the Spirit as he guides your thoughts and your heart.  The more we seek the Lord’s guidance and the more we know the Word, the more we can follow the Spirit.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to always trust your perfect will over my will. Guide me to be your servant and to always trust you as the Master.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
