Do We Lose Faith?

Posted on

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

We hear stories of people who have lost their faith after being Christians for many years. What causes people to lose faith? Do they understand the real meaning of faith? There are times in our lives when Satan will seek to destroy our faith. He may do this by placing us in an environment of non-Christians, or among a group of Christians in whom we don’t see Christ, or through hardships in our lives or in the lives of others. This may make us fearful, angry or sad, but should it cause us to lose our faith? Losing our faith is telling ourselves that God is not in control.

The faith that pleases God, and the faith that endures all things, is the faith that makes us God’s servants giving him total control. We continue to serve him no matter what happens in life. This kind of faith requires we become eternally minded, longing to be with the Lord. It enables us to endure because we are closer to the Lord than we are to the world. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:36)

Whatever difficulties we go through in life, it serves to help us identify with Christ, making us more Christ-like. Accept whatever life brings, no matter how fearful, frustrating, angry, or sad it may make you, because all things are possible with God. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 14:26) In order to believe this verse completely we must believe that all things are possible with Christ in us. If we truly believe this we will be the Lord’s servant no matter where he leads us in life.

Even from eternity I am He, And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:13) God created everything. He is in control of everything and he is pure love. If we have accepted Christ as our Savior, then he lives in us through the Holy Spirit, and he promises that nothing can take us out of his hands. The only one who can take us out of God’s hands is us, and we do this by losing our faith. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. “But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. (Matthew 24:13) Never let the Lord’s love in your heart grow cold by losing your faith, because your faith comes from your love for the Lord.

Today walk with the Lord as his servant, and accept any challenge placed before you. The bigger the challenge the more we learn to depend on the Lord. And remember there is no mountain too big for the Lord. You have the power of God living in you.

Prayer: Help me to endure all things by giving you control and living as your servant. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who guides me with your love and power. Lord, take away any fear, or negative emotion that comes from Satan, and fill my heart with your love, power, and wisdom, so I can overcome the world. In Jesus name, Amen.
