Do Not Fear for I Am with You
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?
Matthew 6:25
Christ helps us to not worry but Satan’s lies seeks to make us worry and fear. When our hearts and minds are filled with worry and fear, we can overcome it with faith, love, peace, and joy from Christ. Jesus tells us in Matthew is, “do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or your body.”
What an amazing truth Jesus gives us to live our lives! Not to worry about our life. Jesus not only tells us don’t worry about food, or drink, or clothes and describes how he cares for the rest of creation, the birds and the lilies in the field. Jesus then explains how much more are we to Him than the rest of creation. He, therefore, tells us, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33) If we seek the Lord first in all that we do, we can overcome worry and fear and be filled with peace and joy.
We live in a rushed society, seeking instant gratification. This lifestyle of rushing and always feeling like we have to measure up to a certain standards and schedules, can cause us fear and worry. As Christians we don’t have to conform to the pattern of this world. The Lord tells us “Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you”. (1 Peter 5:7)
Today, focus on putting the Lord first and seeking him in everything you do. Cast all your fears and anxieties upon him because he cares for you and loves you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Sufficient is today’s troubles. (Matthew 6:34) Live today not for the worries of tomorrow. And do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am the Lord your God. (Isaiah 41:10)
Prayer: Lord I need you, I trust you, and I want to seek you first in all that I do. Enable me live with your strength as I follow the Spirit serving you. Fill my heart with love, peace, and joy, and drive out fear and worry that comes from Satan. Empower me to fully trust your truth and to drive out the enemy’s lies. Thank you Lord, I love you.
