Divine Perseverance

We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

1 John 5:19

As Satan’s lies increase evil in the world, we need divine perseverance that comes from being closer to the Lord. God has made it possible for us to be closer to Christ than we are to the world. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:12) The apostle Paul lived a very difficult life as a Christian, but he was extremely close to the Lord who gave him perseverance with contentment independent of the world.  And the Lord will do the same for us.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:36) We persevere by following the Spirit doing the will of our Lord, being a Light in this world, and we persevere knowing our heavenly home is waiting for us.  We persevere witnessing to the world because our focus is on Christ and others, which frees us from focusing on self.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We have to be governed by the Spirit to overcome being a slave to the world. We are free of self when we live as the Lord’s servants pointing people to Christ, and the Lord gives us divine perseverance.

When our priority is to bring Christ to the world, God fills our hearts with His love, and fear will decrease in our minds. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) The more love that’s in our hearts the more we know the Lord and the closer we are to Him. Fear decreases as love brings us closer to the Lord.

Today follow the Lord’s plan for divine perseverance. True perseverance only comes from the Lord as we follow His will through the Spirit. And we minister to the world knowing Heaven is our home, then we will persevere through anything Satan places in our path.

Prayer:  Lord guide me in the Spirit to be a servant for Christ, with divine perseverance to my last breath. Give me your power to overcome the evil that Satan is bringing to the world. In Jesus name, Amen
